It’s no suprise people adapt vintage lenses for both photo and video purposes, but why do they do it?

There are many reasons why people choose to adapt vintage lenses to modern camera bodies. The main being the unique characteristics each set, brand or focal distance brings to their craft, like pictured above with the crazy circuliar boked coming from a Helios-44! This unique look and feel cannot be replicated with modern lenses. This is due to the different materials and construction methods used to during the construction and design of the lens. So if they weren’t designed for modern mounts how do people use them?

This is where lens adapters come in. Lens adapters allow you to mount a lens from one camera system onto another, making it possible to use vintage lenses on modern cameras. This often brings a sense of affordability, Vintage lenses can (at times) be much more affordable than modern lenses, especially compared to some higher-quality mirroless lens models. This makes them a great option for photographers on a budget.
