The Popularity of the X100V

The Fujifilm X100V skyrocketed into popularity as a trendy digital compact that could do film simulations. People loved it for it’s compact size and beautiful lens. It ascended into a cult status item, with models sold out everywhere and still very strongly in demand even after the camera itself was discontinued. Prices for the body secondhand are often more than what it was bought brand new – since there is such a market for it.

The Specs

The specs that have been released are:

📸 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS Sensor
📸 6 Stop In-Body Image Stabilisation
📸 6.2K video
📸 Fujinon 23mm f/2 Lens (35mm Full Frame Equivalent)

What’s the Difference Between the X100V and X100VI?

The addition of in-body image stabilisation and a new sensor are the biggest draws of the X100VI.

The upgraded 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS Sensor is the same that’s in the X-H2 and X-T5. The X100V had the 26MP X-Trans APS-C sensor, which was the same as the sensor in the X-T4 and the X-S20. It’s an impressive jump and this compact camera has the same sensor as some of Fujifilm’s professional cameras.

The lens remains the same – no changes there. The sensor means that you’ll be able to get some beautiful results out of the same glass however!

The Price

The RRP is $2,899 AUD – $200 more than the X100VI’s predecessor. Lots of first shipment cameras have already been secured with a deposit, meaning that this camera may remain at the cult status that the X100V boasts.
