So, you want to buy a camera in 2022.
There is a lot of gear out there (trust us, we know!!) With tonnes of different uses, advantages, and disadvantages, you’ll want to be sure you’re getting the right stuff. So, what do you do, panic? Scream and shout? Don’t worry we’ve all been there! Overwhelmed by choice, looking for a guiding hand, and that’s what we are here for. All of us at PhotoCo have been though this before and we’re here to help you.
First things first, you’ll need to have an idea about where you want to start photography wise. What do you want to shoot and what images or art you want to create? This will help us to direct you toward the right tools and technology you will need to see your best results. If you’re unsure what this means for you, a good place to start is finding inspiration. This could be through website like CameraHouse, or Instagram posts from photographers or influencers like Anton Kollo or Eloise Jenkins , watching photography videos on YouTube like grainydays (believe me I’ve watched my fair share) or reading about it in blogs like this one or any of the great (Adelaide-ian) photography blogs like the Atkins Photo Lab.
Secondly, it will help to have an idea of how far you may want to take it. The world of photography is vast and there’s an argument for each camera or system you can buy. If its something you want to take with you hiking, photographing birds and landscapes, then there are some great options like the Panasonic TZ90 that would fit perfectly. Or perhaps you’re looking to take portraits of the important people in your life. You may then want to look at a full frame DSLR camera like the Nikon D780, Canon 5DIV or a newer mirrorless camera like Sony a7iv or Nikon Z9, which can also be found at Camerahouse.com.au. Additionally, if it’s an art project, you may look into shooting film with a 35mm point and shoot or get that great film look with a digital film emulation like Fuji X100V.
Each system will have its advantages and by knowing what you want to do and how far you want to take it, we can help set you up to give you room to grow and add to your passion for photography.
Finally, we just need to know your budget, because there’s something for everyone here and we want you to get the best bang for your buck! 😊
